A RESOLUTION
Honoring the life and memory of Phillip Hampton Sims; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens2
with the passing of Phillip Hampton Sims on February 7, 2025; and 3
WHEREAS, Phillip Hampton Sims was born in 1956 in Forest Park, Georgia, to the late4
H.B. Sims and Theresa Staples Sims; and5
WHEREAS, he and his family moved to Tyrone, Georgia, in 1966 and put down roots on a6
gorgeous farm; and7
WHEREAS, after college, he opened a family business, S&S Glass, in Tyrone and served8
the community at the College Park Fire Department, where he was a fireman for 26 years,9
retiring in 2007; and 10
WHEREAS, he will be remembered for his big fish personality, providing an endless source11
of stories; for his desire to not only embrace the outdoors but to instill that passion in others;12
and for his selfless, unconditional love of family and friends, for whom he was always13
willing to provide anything he could.14

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body

join in honoring the life and memory of Phillip Hampton Sims and express their deepest and16
most sincere regret at his passing.17
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed18
to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the family of19
Phillip Hampton Sims.20
