A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending the Jonesboro Majestic Marching Cardinals; and for other

purposes.2
WHEREAS, the Jonesboro Majestic Marching Cardinals is an esteemed musical ensemble3
dedicated to taking learning beyond the classroom, providing students with access to4
invaluable experiences and once-in-a-lifetime opportunities through music; and5
WHEREAS, the band strives to prepare students for post-secondary education by offering6
exposure to diverse opportunities through travel and assisting graduating seniors in securing7
music scholarships, thereby making higher education more accessible and affordable; and8
WHEREAS, the Jonesboro Majestic Marching Cardinals have established themselves as the9
premier ambassadors for Clayton County and the Jonesboro community; and10
WHEREAS, under the leadership of Director Lynel Goodwin, the band has earned national11
acclaim through major accomplishments such as performing at the City of Jonesboro12
Mayoral Inauguration in 2019, participating in the nationally televised Chicago Thanksgiving13
Day Parade in 2019, making an appearance on Good Morning America in 2021, and14
emerging as champions of the Great Atlanta Band Challenge in 2021; and15

WHEREAS, as additional testament to their dedication to musical excellence, the Jonesboro

Majestic Marching Cardinals proudly represented Georgia at the 2022 National Fourth of17
July Parade in Washington, D.C., and in 2023, the band was honored with the Music for All18
"Advocacy in Action" Award; and19
WHEREAS, through dedication, talent, and perseverance, the Jonesboro Majestic Marching20
Cardinals continue to inspire young musicians, elevate the performing arts, and bring pride21
to their community.22
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body23
recognize and commend the Jonesboro Majestic Marching Cardinals for their outstanding24
contributions to music education, student enrichment, and the State of Georgia as well as25
extend best wishes for continued success.26
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed27
to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the Jonesboro28
Majestic Marching Cardinals.29
