| 7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, Savannah Feed the Hungry was established in 2009 and has since provided over2 |

| 8 | 8 | | 1.5 million meals across 14 cities in Georgia and South Carolina; and3 |

| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, founded during a time of economic hardship, Savannah Feed the Hungry has4 |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | grown into one of the nation's largest holiday meal programs, serving more than 50,0005 |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | individuals annually; and6 |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, in partnership with St. Joseph's/Candler, Savannah Feed the Hungry opened the7 |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Empowerment Center in 2019, a one-stop resource center dedicated to helping individuals8 |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | achieve long-term self-sufficiency; and9 |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, the Empowerment Center has assisted over 244 individuals in transitioning10 |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | from renting to homeownership while also offering GED classes, continuing education,11 |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | after-school programs, conflict resolution training, and various workshops and seminars; and12 |

| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Savannah Feed the Hungry further collaborates with Savannah Technical |

| 22 | 22 | | College, Saint Leo University, the Georgia Ports Authority, Georgia Power, and numerous14 |

| 23 | 23 | | other organizations to provide educational and professional opportunities; and15 |

| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, through its unwavering commitment to service and the support of hundreds of16 |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | volunteers, Savannah Feed the Hungry continues to uplift individuals and families in Georgia17 |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | and beyond, making it abundantly fitting and proper that it be appropriately honored.18 |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body19 |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | commend Savannah Feed the Hungry for its outstanding contributions on behalf of those in20 |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | need as well as extend best wishes for continued success.21 |

| 30 | 30 | | BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed22 |
