| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, in 2003, Shawty Lo formed the Hip Hop group D4L, with fellow Atlanta based4 |

| 10 | 10 | | rappers Fabio, Mook-B and Stoney; and5 |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, the group hit national status in January 2006, when their single “Laffy Taffy”6 |

| 12 | 12 | | topped the Billboard Hot 100 and went on to be certified Platinum twice by the Recording7 |

| 13 | 13 | | Industry Association of America; and8 |

| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, in 2007, Shawty Lo began pursuing a solo career with his debut album“Units9 |

| 15 | 15 | | in the City," which reached number 14 on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart and sold over 160,00010 |

|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Shawty Lo is known as the KING of Bankhead, he represented the ingenuity12 |

| 18 | 18 | | of Bankhead and Bowen Homes as well as diligently contributed to numerous causes that13 |

| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, on March 22, 2025, Shawty Lo would have celebrated his 49th birthday. 17 |

| 26 | 26 | | NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body18 |

| 27 | 27 | | recognize and commend Carlos Rico Walker for his significant impact on music and culture19 |

| 28 | 28 | | in Atlanta as well as join in the celebration of his 49th birthday.20 |
