55 Commending Dr. Quentina M. Miller-Fields; and for other purposes.

77 WHEREAS, Dr. Quentina M. Miller-Fields, a native of Savannah, Georgia, has distinguished2
88 herself as an educator, advocate, and leader dedicated to uplifting youth and strengthening3
99 her community through decades of public service; and4
1010 WHEREAS, she currently serves the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System as5
1111 Director of Student Affairs, supporting more than 36,000 students through compassionate6
1212 leadership and transformative programming; and7
1313 WHEREAS, she began her career with the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System8
1414 as the first social worker assigned to the Teen Age Parenthood Program, during which time9
1515 she provided vital support to students navigating the challenges of early parenthood and10
1616 served as President of the First District of School Social Workers of Georgia; and11
1717 WHEREAS, her next position was as Job Placement Specialist and Assistant Site12
1818 Administrator at the Riley Learning Center, a school designated for students charged with13
1919 or adjudicated of specific felony offenses; and14

2222 WHEREAS, Dr. Miller-Fields developed and coordinated several influential programs and

2424 initiatives during her tenure, including the Male Readiness Camp—a three-week summer16
2525 program for third through fifth grade boys—as well as the district's first "Promoting Peace"17
2626 Violence Prevention Conference and its annual "Character Counts" Conference; and18
2727 WHEREAS, her dedication to youth and education has earned her significant recognition,19
2828 including the Gwendolyn Goodman "Champion for Children" Award, selection as a featured20
2929 presenter at the National Youth At-Risk Conference, and honors for "Excellence in21
3030 Education" by the 100 Black Men of Savannah Inc.; and22
3131 WHEREAS, her dedication extends beyond the classroom as she contributes to numerous23
3232 civic and health organizations, including service on the Board of Directors for the Chatham24
3333 County Health Department, the Department of Family and Children Services, and the Coastal25
3434 Empire Disaster Relief Committee; and26
3535 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this remarkable individual be27
3636 appropriately honored during this special time.28
3737 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body29
3838 commend Dr. Quentina M. Miller-Fields for her unwavering service to education, youth30
3939 development, and her community as well as extend best wishes for continued success.31
4040 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed32
4141 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Dr. Quentina M.33
