7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Quentina M. Miller-Fields, a native of Savannah, Georgia, has distinguished2 |

8 | 8 | | herself as an educator, advocate, and leader dedicated to uplifting youth and strengthening3 |

9 | 9 | | her community through decades of public service; and4 |
---|
10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, she currently serves the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System as5 |
---|
11 | 11 | | Director of Student Affairs, supporting more than 36,000 students through compassionate6 |
---|
12 | 12 | | leadership and transformative programming; and7 |
---|
13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, she began her career with the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System8 |
---|
14 | 14 | | as the first social worker assigned to the Teen Age Parenthood Program, during which time9 |
---|
15 | 15 | | she provided vital support to students navigating the challenges of early parenthood and10 |
---|
16 | 16 | | served as President of the First District of School Social Workers of Georgia; and11 |

17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, her next position was as Job Placement Specialist and Assistant Site12 |

18 | 18 | | Administrator at the Riley Learning Center, a school designated for students charged with13 |
---|
19 | 19 | | or adjudicated of specific felony offenses; and14 |

22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Miller-Fields developed and coordinated several influential programs and |

24 | 24 | | initiatives during her tenure, including the Male Readiness Camp—a three-week summer16 |

25 | 25 | | program for third through fifth grade boys—as well as the district's first "Promoting Peace"17 |

26 | 26 | | Violence Prevention Conference and its annual "Character Counts" Conference; and18 |
---|
27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, her dedication to youth and education has earned her significant recognition,19 |
---|
28 | 28 | | including the Gwendolyn Goodman "Champion for Children" Award, selection as a featured20 |
---|
29 | 29 | | presenter at the National Youth At-Risk Conference, and honors for "Excellence in21 |
---|
30 | 30 | | Education" by the 100 Black Men of Savannah Inc.; and22 |
---|
31 | 31 | | WHEREAS, her dedication extends beyond the classroom as she contributes to numerous23 |
---|
32 | 32 | | civic and health organizations, including service on the Board of Directors for the Chatham24 |
---|
33 | 33 | | County Health Department, the Department of Family and Children Services, and the Coastal25 |
---|
34 | 34 | | Empire Disaster Relief Committee; and26 |

35 | 35 | | WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this remarkable individual be27 |

36 | 36 | | appropriately honored during this special time.28 |

37 | 37 | | NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body29 |

38 | 38 | | commend Dr. Quentina M. Miller-Fields for her unwavering service to education, youth30 |

39 | 39 | | development, and her community as well as extend best wishes for continued success.31 |

40 | 40 | | BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed32 |
