A RESOLUTION
Commending Dr. Quentina M. Miller-Fields; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Dr. Quentina M. Miller-Fields, a native of Savannah, Georgia, has distinguished2
herself as an educator, advocate, and leader dedicated to uplifting youth and strengthening3
her community through decades of public service; and4
WHEREAS, she currently serves the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System as5
Director of Student Affairs, supporting more than 36,000 students through compassionate6
leadership and transformative programming; and7
WHEREAS, she began her career with the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System8
as the first social worker assigned to the Teen Age Parenthood Program, during which time9
she provided vital support to students navigating the challenges of early parenthood and10
served as President of the First District of School Social Workers of Georgia; and11
WHEREAS, her next position was as Job Placement Specialist and Assistant Site12
Administrator at the Riley Learning Center, a school designated for students charged with13
or adjudicated of specific felony offenses; and14

WHEREAS, Dr. Miller-Fields developed and coordinated several influential programs and
15
initiatives during her tenure, including the Male Readiness Camp—a three-week summer16
program for third through fifth grade boys—as well as the district's first "Promoting Peace"17
Violence Prevention Conference and its annual "Character Counts" Conference; and18
WHEREAS, her dedication to youth and education has earned her significant recognition,19
including the Gwendolyn Goodman "Champion for Children" Award, selection as a featured20
presenter at the National Youth At-Risk Conference, and honors for "Excellence in21
Education" by the 100 Black Men of Savannah Inc.; and22
WHEREAS, her dedication extends beyond the classroom as she contributes to numerous23
civic and health organizations, including service on the Board of Directors for the Chatham24
County Health Department, the Department of Family and Children Services, and the Coastal25
Empire Disaster Relief Committee; and26
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this remarkable individual be27
appropriately honored during this special time.28
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body29
commend Dr. Quentina M. Miller-Fields for her unwavering service to education, youth30
development, and her community as well as extend best wishes for continued success.31
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed32
to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Dr. Quentina M.33
Miller-Fields.34
