9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, the State of Georgia has faced numerous natural disasters that have caused3 |

10 | 10 | | significant damage and hardship to its residents; and4 |

11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, in times of crisis, communities come together to support one another,5 |
---|
12 | 12 | | demonstrating the strength and resilience of the human spirit; and6 |
---|
13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, interfaith and religious organizations and volunteers have played a crucial role7 |
---|
14 | 14 | | in disaster cleanup efforts, providing essential services, resources, and support to those8 |
---|
15 | 15 | | affected; and9 |
---|
16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, these interfaith efforts have fostered unity, understanding, and cooperation10 |
---|
17 | 17 | | among diverse religious communities, showcasing the power of collaboration and11 |
---|
18 | 18 | | compassion; and12 |

21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, the dedication and hard work of these volunteers has significantly contributed |
---|

23 | 23 | | to the recovery and rebuilding of affected areas, helping to restore hope and normalcy to the14 |
---|
24 | 24 | | lives of many Georgians; and15 |
---|
25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, according to reports from local faith-based organizations, tens of thousands of16 |
---|
26 | 26 | | volunteers participated in disaster relief efforts in Georgia following Hurricane Helene,17 |
---|
27 | 27 | | contributing more than one million total volunteer hours, with teams working in some of the18 |
---|
28 | 28 | | most impacted areas to clear debris, repair homes, and provide direct assistance to many19 |
---|
29 | 29 | | thousands of affected residents; and20 |
---|
30 | 30 | | WHEREAS, many churches and faith organizations came to their fellow citizens' needs for21 |
---|
31 | 31 | | disaster relief; and 22 |
---|
32 | 32 | | WHEREAS, volunteer labor from church members and faith-based organizations, who23 |
---|
33 | 33 | | traveled from as far away as South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Florida to help24 |
---|
34 | 34 | | Georgia homeowners in need, included efforts such as tending to damaged homes, removing25 |
---|
35 | 35 | | fallen trees, and cleaning up storm debris.26 |
---|
36 | 36 | | NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body27 |
---|
37 | 37 | | recognize and commend the invaluable contributions of the interfaith organizations and28 |
---|
38 | 38 | | volunteers in disaster cleanup efforts as well as encourage continued support and29 |
---|
39 | 39 | | collaboration among all communities to strengthen our collective ability to respond to and30 |
---|
40 | 40 | | recover from future disasters.31 |
---|
41 | 41 | | BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed32 |
---|
42 | 42 | | to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the leaders of the33 |
---|
43 | 43 | | interfaith organizations involved in disaster cleanup efforts.34 |
