A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending the interfaith organizations and volunteers involved in disaster

cleanup efforts; and for other purposes.2
WHEREAS, the State of Georgia has faced numerous natural disasters that have caused3
significant damage and hardship to its residents; and4
WHEREAS, in times of crisis, communities come together to support one another,5
demonstrating the strength and resilience of the human spirit; and6
WHEREAS, interfaith and religious organizations and volunteers have played a crucial role7
in disaster cleanup efforts, providing essential services, resources, and support to those8
affected; and9
WHEREAS, these interfaith efforts have fostered unity, understanding, and cooperation10
among diverse religious communities, showcasing the power of collaboration and11
compassion; and12

WHEREAS, the dedication and hard work of these volunteers has significantly contributed
13
to the recovery and rebuilding of affected areas, helping to restore hope and normalcy to the14
lives of many Georgians; and15
WHEREAS, according to reports from local faith-based organizations, tens of thousands of16
volunteers participated in disaster relief efforts in Georgia following Hurricane Helene,17
contributing more than one million total volunteer hours, with teams working in some of the18
most impacted areas to clear debris, repair homes, and provide direct assistance to many19
thousands of affected residents; and20
WHEREAS, many churches and faith organizations came to their fellow citizens' needs for21
disaster relief; and 22
WHEREAS, volunteer labor from church members and faith-based organizations, who23
traveled from as far away as South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Florida to help24
Georgia homeowners in need, included efforts such as tending to damaged homes, removing25
fallen trees, and cleaning up storm debris.26
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body27
recognize and commend the invaluable contributions of the interfaith organizations and28
volunteers in disaster cleanup efforts as well as encourage continued support and29
collaboration among all communities to strengthen our collective ability to respond to and30
recover from future disasters.31
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed32
to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the leaders of the33
interfaith organizations involved in disaster cleanup efforts.34
