43	43		BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

47		-	SECTION 1. The legislature finds that the University of Hawaii sea grant college program provides an important service to the State through the program's disaster preparedness education and outreach initiatives. ~~The University of~~ Hawaii sea grant ~~college program~~ has engaged in hundreds of speaking events and has provided communities, public libraries, and state agencies with more than thirty thousand copies of the "Homeowner's Handbook to Prepare for Natural Hazards". The legislature recognizes that there continues to be a need to distribute materials and engage in public outreach programs to educate the State's residents on preparing for, and recovering from, natural disasters. Accordingly, the purpose of this Act is to appropriate moneys to the University of Hawaii for the continued operation and disaster preparedness outreach efforts of the University of Hawaii sea grant college program. SECTION 2. There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $ or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2022-2023 for the continued operation and disaster preparedness outreach efforts of the University of Hawaii sea grant college program. The sum appropriated shall be expended by the University of Hawaii for the purposes of this Act. SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect on July 1, ~~2050~~.
