1 AN ACT concerning State government.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The General Assembly Operations Act is amended
5 by adding Section 1.5 as follows:
6 (25 ILCS 10/1.5 new)
7 Sec. 1.5. Term limits for legislative leaders.
8 Notwithstanding any other provision of this Act, no person may
9 serve more than 10 consecutive years in any of the following
10 leadership roles: Speaker of the House of Representatives,
11 President of the Senate, Minority Leader of the House of
12 Representatives, and Minority Leader of the Senate. The
13 limitations imposed by this amendatory Act of the 103rd
14 General Assembly apply to service beginning on or after the
15 second Wednesday in January of 2025.
