13	13	1 AN ACT concerning education.
14	14	2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
15	15	3 represented in the General Assembly:
16	16	4 Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section
17	17	5 27-23.17 as follows:
18	18	6 (105 ILCS 5/27-23.17 new)
19	19	7 Sec. 27-23.17. Course on nursing. Beginning with the
20	20	8 2023-2024 school year, a school district organized under
21	21	9 Article 34 must include in its curriculum a unit of
22	22	10 instruction on nursing. The school board shall determine the
23	23	11 minimum amount of instructional time that qualifies as a unit
24	24	12 of instruction. The State Board of Education must prepare and
25	25	13 make available to the school board resource materials that may
26	26	14 be used as guidelines for the development of the nursing
27	27	15 instruction under this Section.
28	28	16 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
29	29	17 becoming law.
