1 AN ACT concerning education.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section
5 27-23.17 as follows:
6 (105 ILCS 5/27-23.17 new)
7 Sec. 27-23.17. Course on nursing. Beginning with the
8 2023-2024 school year, a school district organized under
9 Article 34 must include in its curriculum a unit of
10 instruction on nursing. The school board shall determine the
11 minimum amount of instructional time that qualifies as a unit
12 of instruction. The State Board of Education must prepare and
13 make available to the school board resource materials that may
14 be used as guidelines for the development of the nursing
15 instruction under this Section.
16 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
17 becoming law.
