1414 1 AN ACT concerning education.
1515 2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
1616 3 represented in the General Assembly:
1717 4 Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Sections
1818 5 10-20.85 and 34-18.82 as follows:
1919 6 (105 ILCS 5/10-20.85 new)
2020 7 Sec. 10-20.85. Academic support services; at-risk student.
2121 8 (a) In this Section, "at-risk student" means a student who
2222 9 is at risk of dropping out of school because of his or her
2323 10 individual academic needs and who requires temporary or
2424 11 ongoing academic support services to achieve success in
2525 12 school.
2626 13 (b) Beginning with the 2024-2025 school year, each school
2727 14 district must provide a parent or guardian of an at-risk
2828 15 student information about appropriate and available
2929 16 community-based or in-school academic support services. The
3030 17 academic support services may include, but are not limited to,
3131 18 any of the following:
3232 19 (1) Individual or small-group tutoring.
3333 20 (2) A summer school program.
3434 21 (3) A mentoring program.
3535 22 (4) Meeting with an academic advisor.
3636 23 A school district shall not be responsible for any costs

8383 5 Sec. 34-18.82. Academic support services; at-risk student.
8484 6 (a) In this Section, "at-risk student" means a student who
8585 7 is at risk of dropping out of school because of his or her

8787 9 ongoing academic support services to achieve success in
8888 10 school.
8989 11 (b) Beginning with the 2024-2025 school year, the school
9090 12 district must provide a parent or guardian of an at-risk
9191 13 student information about appropriate and available
9292 14 community-based or in-school academic support services. The
9393 15 academic support services may include, but are not limited to,
9494 16 any of the following:
9595 17 (1) Individual or small-group tutoring.
9696 18 (2) A summer school program.
9797 19 (3) A mentoring program.
9898 20 (4) Meeting with an academic advisor.
9999 21 The school district shall not be responsible for any costs

103103 25 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect July 1,
