14	14	1 AN ACT concerning education.
15	15	2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
16	16	3 represented in the General Assembly:
17	17	4 Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Sections
18	18	5 10-20.85 and 34-18.82 as follows:
19	19	6 (105 ILCS 5/10-20.85 new)
20	20	7 Sec. 10-20.85. Academic support services; at-risk student.
21	21	8 (a) In this Section, "at-risk student" means a student who
22	22	9 is at risk of dropping out of school because of his or her
23	23	10 individual academic needs and who requires temporary or
24	24	11 ongoing academic support services to achieve success in
25	25	12 school.
26	26	13 (b) Beginning with the 2024-2025 school year, each school
27	27	14 district must provide a parent or guardian of an at-risk
28	28	15 student information about appropriate and available
29	29	16 community-based or in-school academic support services. The
30	30	17 academic support services may include, but are not limited to,
31	31	18 any of the following:
32	32	19 (1) Individual or small-group tutoring.
33	33	20 (2) A summer school program.
34	34	21 (3) A mentoring program.
35	35	22 (4) Meeting with an academic advisor.
36	36	23 A school district shall not be responsible for any costs
