1  AN ACT concerning education.
2  Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3  represented in the General Assembly:
4  Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Sections
5  10-20.85 and 34-18.82 as follows:
6  (105 ILCS 5/10-20.85 new)
7  Sec. 10-20.85. Academic support services; at-risk student.
8  (a) In this Section, "at-risk student" means a student who
9  is at risk of dropping out of school because of his or her
10  individual academic needs and who requires temporary or
11  ongoing academic support services to achieve success in
12  school.
13  (b) Beginning with the 2024-2025 school year, each school
14  district must provide a parent or guardian of an at-risk
15  student information about appropriate and available
16  community-based or in-school academic support services. The
17  academic support services may include, but are not limited to,
18  any of the following:
19  (1) Individual or small-group tutoring.
20  (2) A summer school program.
21  (3) A mentoring program.
22  (4) Meeting with an academic advisor.
23  A school district shall not be responsible for any costs
