4-AN ACT concerning transportation.
5-Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
6-represented in the General Assembly:
7-Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by adding
8-Section 3-699.22 as follows:
9-(625 ILCS 5/3-699.22 new)
10-Sec. 3-699.22. United States Submarine Veterans plates.
11-(a) The Secretary of State, upon receipt of all applicable
12-fees and applications made in the form prescribed by the
13-Secretary, may issue special registration plates designated as
14-United States Submarine Veterans plates to each resident of
15-this State who served in the United States Navy as a
16-submariner. The special plates issued under this Section shall
17-be affixed only to passenger vehicles of the first division,
18-motorcycles, and motor vehicles of the second division
19-weighing not more than 8,000 pounds. Plates under this Section
20-shall expire according to the multi-year procedure established
21-by Section 3-414.1.
22-(b) The plates shall display the United States Submarine
23-Veterans logo and the phrase "Silent Service". In all other
24-respects, the design and color of the special plates shall be
25-wholly within the discretion of the Secretary. Appropriate
26-documentation, as determined by the Secretary, shall accompany
