1  AN ACT concerning education.
2  Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3  represented in the General Assembly:
4  Section 5. The University of Illinois Act is amended by
5  changing Section 135 as follows:
6  (110 ILCS 305/135)
7  Sec. 135. Adjunct professor and nontenured-track faculty;
8  status of class.
9  (a) At least 30 days before the beginning of a term and
10  again at 14 days before the beginning of the term, the Board of
11  Trustees must notify an adjunct professor or nontenured-track
12  faculty member about the status of enrollment of the class the
13  adjunct professor or nontenured-track faculty member was hired
14  to teach.
15  (b) This Section does not apply if the Governor has
16  declared a disaster due to a public health emergency or a
17  natural disaster pursuant to Section 7 of the Illinois
18  Emergency Management Agency Act.
19  (c) Collective bargaining agreements with adjunct
20  professors that are in effect on January 1, 2022 (the
21  effective date of Public Act 102-260) are exempt from the
22  requirements of this Section. Collective bargaining agreements
23  with nontenured-track faculty that are in effect on the
