12	12	1 AN ACT concerning education.
13	13	2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
14	14	3 represented in the General Assembly:
15	15	4 Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Sections
16	16	5 10-20.85 and 34-18.82 as follows:

18	18	7 Sec. 10-20.85. Selective admissions; standardized testing.
19	19	8 A school board in a school district with 275,000 students or
20	20	9 more shall prohibit any school of the district that has
21	21	10 selective admission requirements from requiring a student in a
22	22	11 pre-kindergarten program of the district to take a
23	23	12 standardized test in order to be admitted to that school.

26	26	15 The board shall prohibit any school of the district that has
27	27	16 selective admission requirements from requiring a student in a

29	29	18 standardized test in order to be admitted to that school.
30	30	19 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
