Provides that no county employee or county official shall publicly disclose on an Internet website information concerning whether particular property has been granted a homestead exemption based on an individual's status as a person with a disability if the county receives a written request from the person with a disability or from that person's authorized agent or representative to refrain from disclosing that information. Provides that the information shall be removed from the Internet website within 5 business days after the request. 1111 1 AN ACT concerning revenue.
1212 2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
1313 3 represented in the General Assembly:
1414 4 Section 5. The Property Tax Code is amended by adding
1515 5 Section 15-190 as follows:
1616 6 (35 ILCS 200/15-190 new)
1717 7 Sec. 15-190. Limitations on posting disability status.
1818 8 (a) No county employee or county official shall publicly
1919 9 disclose on an Internet website information concerning whether
2020 10 a particular property has been granted a homestead exemption
2121 11 under this Code based on an individual's status as a person
2222 12 with a disability if the county receives a written request to
2323 13 refrain from disclosing that information from the person with
2424 14 a disability or from that person's authorized agent or
2525 15 representative. Any publicly available information the
2626 16 disclosure of which is prohibited by this Section shall be
2727 17 removed from the Internet website within 5 business days after
2828 18 the county receives a written request under this Section.
2929 19 After the information has been removed, no county employee or
3030 20 county official shall publicly post or display the information
3131 21 described in this Section unless the county receives written
3232 22 authorization from the individual with a disability to make
3333 23 that information available to the public.
