12	12	1 AN ACT concerning local government.
13	13	2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
14	14	3 represented in the General Assembly:
15	15	4 Section 5. The Illinois Municipal Code is amended by
16	16	5 adding Section 11-6-12 as follows:
17	17	6 (65 ILCS 5/11-6-12 new)
18	18	7 Sec. 11-6-12. Disclosure of offenses.
19	19	8 (a) Notwithstanding any other provisions of law, a person
20	20	9 applying for a position in a fire department must disclose if
21	21	10 he or she has been convicted, arrested, or charged with arson,
22	22	11 aggravated arson, or criminal damage to property due to
23	23	12 recklessly, by means of fire, damaging the property of another
24	24	13 or knowingly starting a fire on the land of another.
25	25	14 (b) The person or board hiring an individual who has
26	26	15 applied to a position in a fire department may take into
27	27	16 consideration the item or items disclosed under subsection (a)
28	28	17 in the hiring or retention of the applicant.
29	29	18 Section 10. The Fire Protection District Act is amended by
30	30	19 adding Section 16.06d as follows:

79	79	11 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
80	80	12 becoming law.
