1 AN ACT concerning local government.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Illinois Municipal Code is amended by
5 adding Section 11-6-12 as follows:
6 (65 ILCS 5/11-6-12 new)
7 Sec. 11-6-12. Disclosure of offenses.
8 (a) Notwithstanding any other provisions of law, a person
9 applying for a position in a fire department must disclose if
10 he or she has been convicted, arrested, or charged with arson,
11 aggravated arson, or criminal damage to property due to
12 recklessly, by means of fire, damaging the property of another
13 or knowingly starting a fire on the land of another.
14 (b) The person or board hiring an individual who has
15 applied to a position in a fire department may take into
16 consideration the item or items disclosed under subsection (a)
17 in the hiring or retention of the applicant.
18 Section 10. The Fire Protection District Act is amended by
19 adding Section 16.06d as follows:
