Lakesia Collins SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED: 20 ILCS 2310/2310-23 new Amends the Department of Public Health Powers and Duties Law of the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois. Defines "pharmacy desert". Requires the Department of Public Health to provide an annual report to the General Assembly by December 31 of each year that identifies the locations of pharmacy deserts within the State and provides information about health issues associated with pharmacy deserts. Provides that if the annual report contains information from the federal government that identifies the locations of pharmacy deserts in the State and provides information on health issues associated with pharmacy deserts, then the requirements of the provisions shall be satisfied. 1111 1 AN ACT concerning State government.
1212 2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
1313 3 represented in the General Assembly:
1414 4 Section 5. The Department of Public Health Powers and
1515 5 Duties Law of the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois is
1616 6 amended by adding Section 2310-23 as follows:
1717 7 (20 ILCS 2310/2310-23 new)
1818 8 Sec. 2310-23. Tracking pharmacy deserts. The Department
1919 9 shall provide an annual report to the General Assembly by
2020 10 December 31 of each year that identifies the locations of
2121 11 pharmacy deserts within the State and provides information
2222 12 about health issues associated with pharmacy deserts. If the
2323 13 annual report contains information from the federal government
2424 14 that identifies the locations of pharmacy deserts in the State
2525 15 and provides information on health issues associated with
2626 16 pharmacy deserts, then the requirements of this Section shall
2727 17 be satisfied. For the purposes of this Section, "pharmacy
2828 18 desert" means a location vapid of prescription medication
2929 19 retail sales, in part due to a lack of pharmacies, health care
3030 20 facilities, or other physical dispensaries of prescription
3131 21 medication.
3232 22 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
