1111 1 AN ACT concerning criminal law.
1212 2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
1313 3 represented in the General Assembly:
1414 4 Section 5. The Criminal Code of 2012 is amended by
1515 5 changing Section 12-6 as follows:
1616 6 (720 ILCS 5/12-6) (from Ch. 38, par. 12-6)
1717 7 Sec. 12-6. Intimidation.
1818 8 (a) A person commits intimidation when, with intent to
1919 9 cause another to perform or to omit the performance of any act,
2020 10 he or she communicates to another, directly or indirectly by
2121 11 any means, a threat to perform without lawful authority any of
2222 12 the following acts:
2323 13 (1) Inflict physical harm on the person threatened or
2424 14 any other person or on property; or
2525 15 (2) Subject any person to physical confinement or
2626 16 restraint; or
2727 17 (3) Commit a felony or Class A misdemeanor; or
2828 18 (4) Accuse any person of an offense; or
2929 19 (5) Expose any person to hatred, contempt or ridicule;

3131 21 (6) Take action as a public official against anyone or
3232 22 anything, or withhold official action, or cause such

7070 3 (b) A person commits intimidation when, with intent to

7878 11 Enforcement, another federal agency involved in immigration
7979 12 enforcement, or any other person without consent of the person
8080 13 whose immigration status the person wishes to disclose.
8181 14 (b) Sentence.
8282 15 Intimidation is a Class 3 felony for which an offender may
8383 16 be sentenced to a term of imprisonment of not less than 2 years
8484 17 and not more than 10 years.
