1111 1 AN ACT concerning civil law.
1212 2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
1313 3 represented in the General Assembly:
1414 4 Section 1. Legislative findings. It has been found by the
1515 5 General Assembly of the State of Illinois that having healthy
1616 6 police officers is an asset to communities throughout Illinois
1717 7 and therefore, in an effort to support wellness of these
1818 8 officers, both active and retired, we hereby create the status
1919 9 of peer support advisor.
2020 10 Section 5. The Code of Civil Procedure is amended by
2121 11 adding Section 8-803.1 as follows:
2222 12 (735 ILCS 5/8-803.1 new)
2323 13 Sec. 8-803.1. Peer support advisor. A peer support advisor
2424 14 shall not be compelled to disclose in any court, or to any
2525 15 administrative board or agency, or to any public officer, a
2626 16 confession or admission made to him or her within his or her
2727 17 capacity as a peer support advisor, nor be compelled to
2828 18 divulge any information which has been obtained by him or her
2929 19 in his or her capacity as a peer support advisor.
3030 20 As used in this Section, "peer support advisor" means an
3131 21 employee, approved by the law enforcement agency or the
3232 22 emergency provider, who voluntarily provides confidential
