1111 1 AN ACT concerning State government.
1212 2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
1313 3 represented in the General Assembly:
1414 4 Section 5. The Department of Commerce and Economic
1515 5 Opportunity Law of the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois
1616 6 is amended by adding Section 605-1110 as follows:
1717 7 (20 ILCS 605/605-1110 new)
1818 8 Sec. 605-1110. Advanced manufacturing training programs.
1919 9 (a) Subject to appropriation, the Department shall
2020 10 establish 3 advanced manufacturing training programs. The
2121 11 advanced manufacturing programs shall expand opportunities for
2222 12 skills training, boost retention of manufacturers, and attract
2323 13 investment by manufacturing companies.
2424 14 (b) Grant moneys must be used either to expand programming
2525 15 in facilities or to support the construction of new facilities
2626 16 to expand manufacturing programming. The expansion must be led
2727 17 by local community colleges and shall be in consultation with
2828 18 regional partnerships, including manufacturers, to ensure that
2929 19 the training offered aligns with the training needed by
3030 20 regional manufacturing employers.
3131 21 (c) Grant moneys shall also be used to expand access to
3232 22 manufacturing programs for diverse populations, including
3333 23 individuals who have been previously incarcerated, individuals
