1111 1 AN ACT concerning criminal law.
1212 2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
1313 3 represented in the General Assembly:
1414 4 Section 5. The Sex Offender Registration Act is amended by
1515 5 changing Section 4 as follows:
1616 6 (730 ILCS 150/4) (from Ch. 38, par. 224)
1717 7 Sec. 4. Discharge of sex offender, as defined in Section 2
1818 8 of this Act, or sexual predator from Department of Corrections
1919 9 facility or other penal institution; duties of official in
2020 10 charge. Any sex offender, as defined in Section 2 of this Act,
2121 11 or sexual predator, as defined by this Article, who is
2222 12 discharged, paroled or released from a Department of
2323 13 Corrections or Department of Juvenile Justice facility, a
2424 14 facility where such person was placed by the Department of
2525 15 Corrections or Department of Juvenile Justice or another penal
2626 16 institution, and whose liability for registration has not
2727 17 terminated under Section 7 shall, prior to discharge, parole
2828 18 or release from the facility or institution, be informed of
2929 19 his or her duty to register in person within 3 days of release
3030 20 by the facility or institution in which he or she was confined.
3131 21 The facility or institution shall also inform any person who
3232 22 must register that if he or she establishes a residence
3333 23 outside of the State of Illinois, is employed outside of the

6868 1 State of Illinois, or attends school outside of the State of
6969 2 Illinois, he or she must register in the new state within 3
7070 3 days after establishing the residence, beginning employment,
7171 4 or beginning school.
7272 5 The facility shall require the person to read and sign
7373 6 such form as may be required by the Illinois State Police
7474 7 stating that the duty to register and the procedure for
7575 8 registration has been explained to him or her and that he or
7676 9 she understands the duty to register and the procedure for
7777 10 registration. The facility shall further advise the person in
7878 11 writing that the failure to register or other violation of
7979 12 this Article shall result in revocation of parole, aftercare
8080 13 release, mandatory supervised release or conditional release.
8181 14 The facility shall obtain information about where the person
8282 15 expects to reside, work, and attend school upon his or her
8383 16 discharge, parole or release and shall report the information
8484 17 to the Illinois State Police. The facility shall give one copy
8585 18 of the form to the person and shall send one copy to each of
8686 19 the law enforcement agencies having jurisdiction where the
8787 20 person expects to reside, work, and attend school upon his or
8888 21 her discharge, parole or release and retain one copy for the
8989 22 files. Electronic data files which includes all notification
9090 23 form information and photographs of sex offenders being
9191 24 released from an Illinois Department of Corrections or
9292 25 Illinois Department of Juvenile Justice facility will be
9393 26 shared on a regular basis as determined between the Illinois
