16 | 16 | | 6 Section 5. Definitions. As used in this Act: |

17 | 17 | | 7 "Agency" means the Environmental Protection Agency. |
---|
18 | 18 | | 8 "Microfiber washing machine filter" or "microfiber filter" |
---|
19 | 19 | | 9 means a washing machine filter that (i) is capable of reducing |
---|
20 | 20 | | 10 by at least 90% the mass of microfibers that would otherwise be |
---|
21 | 21 | | 11 emitted by the washing machine as a result of the operation of |
---|
22 | 22 | | 12 the washing machine and (ii) has a mesh size that is capable of |
---|
23 | 23 | | 13 capturing microfibers larger than 50 microns. |

24 | 24 | | 14 Section 10. Microfiber filter rebate program. |

25 | 25 | | 15 (a) No later than one year after the effective date of this |
---|
26 | 26 | | 16 Act and subject to appropriation, the Agency shall establish |

81 | 81 | | 15 microfiber washing machine filters and replacement filters |

82 | 82 | | 16 that are eligible for the rebate provided under this Section |

83 | 83 | | 17 and the manner and form for residents to apply for and, if |

85 | 85 | | 19 (e) The Agency shall advertise the availability of rebates |
