4	4	2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
5	5	3 Representatives wish to congratulate Darrell Levell "Mr.
6	6	4 Wimbo" Wimberly on 19 years of service to Marion High School
7	7	5 and recognize him for his positive impact on the lives of
8	8	6 thousands of Marion students, parents, residents, and
9	9	7 community members; and
10	10	8 WHEREAS, Darrell Wimberly was born in Louisville, Kentucky
11	11	9 on August 23, 1961; and
12	12	10 WHEREAS, Darrell Wimberly was a standout athlete at Butler
13	13	11 High School in Louisville, where he starred in football and
14	14	12 basketball; and
15	15	13 WHEREAS, Darrell Wimberly attended the University of
16	16	14 Louisville from 1978 to 1982 and found great success as a
17	17	15 linebacker; and
18	18	16 WHEREAS, Darrell Wimberly tried out for the NFL with the
19	19	17 New York Jets, but life had bigger plans for him; and
20	20	18 WHEREAS, Darrell Wimberly had a successful career selling
21	21	19 insurance for Commonwealth Life Insurance in the Louisville
22	22	20 area for 20 years; and

31	31	1 WHEREAS, Darrell Wimberly moved to Marion in the year
32	32	2 2000, where he sold insurance for five years before applying
33	33	3 for a job with Marion High School; and
34	34	4 WHEREAS, Darrell Wimberly worked as a volunteer football
35	35	5 coach at Marion High School starting in 2000; he became the
36	36	6 dean of students at Marion High School in July 2002 and worked
37	37	7 as an administrator, football coach, and basketball coach for
38	38	8 more than 20 years; and
39	39	9 WHEREAS, Darrell Wimberly has served as a mentor,
40	40	10 advocate, and role model for thousands of Marion High School
41	41	11 athletes and students, bettering their lives; and
42	42	12 WHEREAS, Darrell Wimberly has served as pastor at East
43	43	13 Liberty Church in rural Marion since 2002, where he has helped
44	44	14 lead several Marion residents through their spiritual
45	45	15 journeys; and
46	46	16 WHEREAS, Darrell Wimberly served as a guest speaker,
47	47	17 prayer leader, and preacher at various Marion area weddings,
48	48	18 funerals, vigils, and community gatherings and served on
49	49	19 countless boards, committees, and community organizations; and
50	50	20 WHEREAS, With his positivity, Darrell Wimberly has

61	61	1 provided inspiration and guidance to his fellow coaches,
62	62	2 administrators, and teachers through his service to students
63	63	3 and his community; and
64	64	4 WHEREAS, Darrell Wimberly married Deon Wimberly on
65	65	5 December 22, 1994 and is the proud and dedicated father of five
66	66	6 children; therefore, be it
67	67	7 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
68	68	8 HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
69	69	9 we congratulate Darrell Levell "Mr. Wimbo" Wimberly on 19
70	70	10 years of service to Marion High School and wish him the very
71	71	11 best for the future in recognition of his retirement from
72	72	12 education; and be it further
73	73	13 RESOLVED, That we recognize Darrell Wimberly for his
74	74	14 positive impact on the lives of thousands of Marion students,
75	75	15 parents, residents, and community members; and be it further
76	76	16 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
77	77	17 presented to Darrell Wimberly as a symbol of our respect and
78	78	18 esteem.
