HR0777LRB103 40652 LAW 73371 r HR0777 LRB103 40652 LAW 73371 r HR0777 LRB103 40652 LAW 73371 r 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 3 Representatives wish to congratulate Captain Clay Childers of 4 the Metropolis Fire Department on the occasion of being 5 awarded the 2024 Medal of Valor by the Office of the State Fire 6 Marshal; and 7 WHEREAS, The Medal of Valor award is given by the State of 8 Illinois to a firefighter for an act of heroism or bravery that 9 clearly demonstrated courage and dedication in the face of 10 danger while in the performance of duty; and 11 WHEREAS, On October 23, 2023, Capt. Childers entered the 12 home of a Metropolis resident while the structure was on fire; 13 upon entering the structure, he discovered a person suffering 14 from smoke inhalation and proceeded to carry the victim to 15 safety, saving her life in the process; and 16 WHEREAS, For more than two decades, Capt. Childers has 17 consistently demonstrated his unwavering commitment to 18 protecting the lives and property of the citizens of Illinois, 19 placing himself in harm's way to ensure the safety of others 20 while displaying remarkable bravery and heroism; and 21 WHEREAS, Capt. Childers serves as a shining example of the 5 bravery, professionalism, and heroism that define the 6 firefighting profession; and 7 WHEREAS, Capt.
