4-AN ACT concerning regulation.
5-Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
6-represented in the General Assembly:
7-Section 5. The Podiatric Medical Practice Act of 1987 is
8-amended by changing Section 5 and by adding Section 20.6 as
9-follows:

12-Sec. 5. Definitions. As used in this Act:
13-(A) "Department" means the Department of Financial and
14-Professional Regulation.
15-(B) "Secretary" means the Secretary of Financial and
16-Professional Regulation.
17-(C) "Board" means the Podiatric Medical Licensing Board
18-appointed by the Secretary.
19-(D) "Podiatric medicine" or "podiatry" means:
20-(1) the diagnosis, medical, physical, or surgical
21-treatment of the ailments of the human foot, including
22-amputations as defined in this Section; .
23-(2) "Podiatric medicine" or "podiatry" includes the
24-provision of topical and local anesthesia and moderate and
25-deep sedation, as defined by Department rule adopted under
26-the Medical Practice Act of 1987; and

22+20 (2) "Podiatric medicine" or "podiatry" includes the

33-(3) vaccination of patients 18 years of age and older
34-in accordance with Section 20.6 upon completion of
35-appropriate training.
36-For the purposes of this Act, the terms podiatric
37-medicine, podiatry and chiropody have the same definition.
38-(E) "Human foot" means the ankle and soft tissue which
39-insert into the foot as well as the foot.
40-(F) "Podiatric physician" means a physician licensed to
41-practice podiatric medicine.
42-(G) "Postgraduate training" means a minimum one-year
43-postdoctoral structured and supervised educational experience
44-approved by the Council on Podiatric Medical Education of the
45-American Podiatric Medical Association which includes
46-residencies and preceptorships.
47-(H) "Amputations" means amputations of the human foot, in
48-whole or in part, that are limited to 10 centimeters proximal
49-to the tibial talar articulation.
50-(I) "Email address of record" means the designated email
51-address recorded by the Department in the applicant's
52-application file or the licensee's license file, as maintained
53-by the Department's licensure maintenance unit.
54-(J) "Address of record" means the designated address
55-recorded by the Department in the applicant's or licensee's
56-application file or license file as maintained by the
57-Department's licensure maintenance unit.

62-Sec. 20.6. Vaccinations. A podiatric physician may provide
63-vaccinations to patients 18 years of age and older upon
64-completion of appropriate training. The training shall include
65-how to address contraindications and adverse reactions as
66-established by rule. Vaccinations administered by a podiatric
67-physician shall be limited to influenza (inactivated influenza
68-vaccine and live attenuated influenza intranasal vaccine),
69-tetanus, and SARS-CoV-2. Vaccination of a patient by a
70-podiatric physician shall be documented in the patient's
71-record and the record shall be retained in accordance with
72-current recordkeeping standards. The podiatric physician shall
73-notify the patient's primary care physician of each dose of
74-vaccine administered to the patient and shall enter all
75-patient level data or update the patient's current record. The
76-podiatric physician may provide this notice to the patient's
77-physician electronically.
