4-AN ACT concerning transportation.
5-Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
6-represented in the General Assembly:
7-Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by
8-changing Section 12-218 and by adding Section 12-218.5 as
9-follows:

11-Sec. 12-218. Auxiliary accent lighting on motorcycles.
12-(a) A motorcycle registered in this State may be equipped
13-with, and a person operating the motorcycle may use, standard
14-bulb running lights or light-emitting diode (L.E.D.) pods and
15-strips as auxiliary lighting with the intent of protecting the
16-driver.
17-(b) Auxiliary lighting authorized under subsection (a) of
18-this Section:
19-(1) shall not project a beam of light of an intensity
20-greater than 25 candlepower or its equivalent from a
21-single lamp or single light-emitting diode (L.E.D.);
22-(2) shall not be directed horizontally;
23-(3) shall be so directed that no part of the beam will
24-strike the level of the surface on which the motorcycle
25-stands at a distance of more than 10 feet from the
26-motorcycle;

7+5 changing Section 12-218 and by adding Section 12-218.5 as

11+9 (a) A motorcycle registered in this State may be equipped

34-(5) shall not emit red or blue light, but may emit red
35-light only while the stop lamp on the motorcycle is
36-illuminated and motorcycle is in the course of braking;
37-(6) shall not be:
38-(A) blinking;
39-(B) flashing;
40-(C) oscillating; or
41-(D) rotating; and
42-(7) shall not be attached to the wheels of the
43-motorcycle.

46-Sec. 12-218.5. Optional lighting on motorcycles.
47-(a) A motorcycle may be equipped with 2 forward facing
48-electric turn signals mounted on or near the handlebar grip
49-assembly, or on the front fork assembly, or front fender
50-shroud. The lamps shall be mounted on the same level and as
51-widely spaced laterally as practicable, and when signaling,
52-shall emit a white or amber light.
53-(b) A motorcycle may be equipped with 2 forward facing
54-electric driving lights which display a steady-on white or
55-amber light. These lights may be in addition to but not in lieu
56-of the required lamps on motorcycles under Section 12-201 and
57-may be used either when the provisions of Section 12-201 are
