12	12	1 AN ACT concerning transportation.
13	13	2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
14	14	3 represented in the General Assembly:
15	15	4 Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by
16	16	5 changing Sections 3-606.1 and 3-606.5 as follows:
17	17	6 (625 ILCS 5/3-606.1) (from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 3-606.1)
18	18	7 Sec. 3-606.1. Retired members of the General Assembly.
19	19	8 Upon receipt of a request from a retired member of the General
20	20	9 Assembly, accompanied by the appropriate application and fee,
21	21	10 the Secretary of State shall issue to such retired member
22	22	11 plates bearing appropriate wording or abbreviations indicating
23	23	12 that the holder is a retired member of the General Assembly.
24	24	13 Such plates may be issued for a 2 year period beginning January
25	25	14 1st of each odd-numbered year and ending December 31st of the
26	26	15 subsequent even-numbered year. Upon the death of a retired
27	27	16 member who has been issued a retired member of the General
28	28	17 Assembly plate, that member's surviving spouse shall be
29	29	18 entitled to retain the plate so long as the surviving spouse is
30	30	19 a resident of Illinois and transfers the registration to his
31	31	20 or her name within 90 days of the death of the retired member.
32	32	21 "Retired member" means any individual who (a) has served
33	33	22 as a member of the General Assembly for a minimum of 6 years,
34	34	23 or (b) is 62 or older, has served as a member of the General

71	71	1 Assembly for a minimum of 4 years, and retired prior to the
72	72	2 convening of the 83rd General Assembly.
73	73	3 The fees and procedures relating to such plates for
74	74	4 retired members of the General Assembly shall be the same as
75	75	5 the fees and procedures applicable to personalized plates
76	76	6 issued under this Code.
77	77	7 This Section shall not apply to any retired member of the
78	78	8 General Assembly who receives a felony conviction that relates
79	79	9 to any transactions carried out as part of the retired
80	80	10 member's official duties.

83	83	13 Sec. 3-606.5. Retired Executive Branch Constitutional
84	84	14 Officers. Upon receipt of a request from a retired executive
85	85	15 branch constitutional officer, accompanied by the appropriate

106	106	1 constitutional officer's surviving spouse shall be entitled to
107	107	2 retain the plate so long as the surviving spouse is a resident
108	108	3 of Illinois and transfers the registration to his or her name
109	109	4 within 90 days of the death of the retired executive branch
110	110	5 constitutional officer. For purposes of this Section, "retired
111	111	6 executive branch constitutional officer" means any individual
112	112	7 who has served at least one full term of office as (i)
113	113	8 Governor; (ii) Lieutenant Governor; (iii) Attorney General;
114	114	9 (iv) Secretary of State; (v) Comptroller; or (vi) Treasurer;
115	115	10 and who was not removed from office pursuant to Section 14 of
116	116	11 Article IV of the Illinois Constitution of 1970.
117	117	12 This Section shall not apply to any retired executive
118	118	13 branch constitutional officer who receives a felony conviction
119	119	14 that relates to any transactions carried out as part of the
120	120	15 retired executive branch constitutional officer's official
121	121	16 duties.
