1212 1 AN ACT concerning transportation.
1313 2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
1414 3 represented in the General Assembly:
1515 4 Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by
1616 5 changing Sections 3-606.1 and 3-606.5 as follows:
1717 6 (625 ILCS 5/3-606.1) (from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 3-606.1)
1818 7 Sec. 3-606.1. Retired members of the General Assembly.
1919 8 Upon receipt of a request from a retired member of the General
2020 9 Assembly, accompanied by the appropriate application and fee,
2121 10 the Secretary of State shall issue to such retired member
2222 11 plates bearing appropriate wording or abbreviations indicating
2323 12 that the holder is a retired member of the General Assembly.
2424 13 Such plates may be issued for a 2 year period beginning January
2525 14 1st of each odd-numbered year and ending December 31st of the
2626 15 subsequent even-numbered year. Upon the death of a retired
2727 16 member who has been issued a retired member of the General
2828 17 Assembly plate, that member's surviving spouse shall be
2929 18 entitled to retain the plate so long as the surviving spouse is
3030 19 a resident of Illinois and transfers the registration to his
3131 20 or her name within 90 days of the death of the retired member.
3232 21 "Retired member" means any individual who (a) has served
3333 22 as a member of the General Assembly for a minimum of 6 years,
3434 23 or (b) is 62 or older, has served as a member of the General

7171 1 Assembly for a minimum of 4 years, and retired prior to the
7272 2 convening of the 83rd General Assembly.
7373 3 The fees and procedures relating to such plates for
7474 4 retired members of the General Assembly shall be the same as
7575 5 the fees and procedures applicable to personalized plates
7676 6 issued under this Code.
7777 7 This Section shall not apply to any retired member of the
7878 8 General Assembly who receives a felony conviction that relates
7979 9 to any transactions carried out as part of the retired
8080 10 member's official duties.

8383 13 Sec. 3-606.5. Retired Executive Branch Constitutional
8484 14 Officers. Upon receipt of a request from a retired executive
8585 15 branch constitutional officer, accompanied by the appropriate
8686 16 application and fee, the Secretary of State shall issue to the
8787 17 retired executive branch constitutional officer plates bearing
8888 18 appropriate wording or abbreviations indicating that the
8989 19 holder is a retired executive branch constitutional officer
9090 20 and the office held. Such plates may be issued for a 2-year

9292 22 ending on December 31 of the subsequent even-numbered year.
9393 23 Upon the death of a retired executive branch constitutional

106106 1 constitutional officer's surviving spouse shall be entitled to
107107 2 retain the plate so long as the surviving spouse is a resident
108108 3 of Illinois and transfers the registration to his or her name
109109 4 within 90 days of the death of the retired executive branch
110110 5 constitutional officer. For purposes of this Section, "retired
111111 6 executive branch constitutional officer" means any individual
112112 7 who has served at least one full term of office as (i)
113113 8 Governor; (ii) Lieutenant Governor; (iii) Attorney General;
114114 9 (iv) Secretary of State; (v) Comptroller; or (vi) Treasurer;
115115 10 and who was not removed from office pursuant to Section 14 of
116116 11 Article IV of the Illinois Constitution of 1970.
117117 12 This Section shall not apply to any retired executive
118118 13 branch constitutional officer who receives a felony conviction
119119 14 that relates to any transactions carried out as part of the
120120 15 retired executive branch constitutional officer's official
121121 16 duties.
