11	11	1 AN ACT concerning education.
12	12	2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
13	13	3 represented in the General Assembly:
14	14	4 Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section
15	15	5 2-3.196 as follows:
16	16	6 (105 ILCS 5/2-3.196 new)
17	17	7 Sec. 2-3.196. Immersion, gifted, and advanced grant
18	18	8 program.
19	19	9 (a) Subject to appropriation, the State Board of Education
20	20	10 shall establish a grant program to support cultural and
21	21	11 language immersion programs, gifted and talented programs, and
22	22	12 advanced placement programs.
23	23	13 (b) The State Board of Education shall develop and
24	24	14 administer an application program for schools to apply for
25	25	15 grant funds. To receive grant funds, schools must:
26	26	16 (1) ensure that any student can apply to any school in
27	27	17 the school district with restrictive admission procedures;
28	28	18 and
29	29	19 (2) provide transportation to each student in the
30	30	20 school district to the school the student attends.
