Provides that an applicant's credit history may not be used to prevent the appointment or employment of a law enforcement officer, including an Illinois State Police officer. Provides that the limitation does not apply to employment actions performed under a collective bargaining agreement in effect on the effective date of the amendatory Act. Provides that a collective bargaining agreement that conflicts with the limitation may not be entered into, modified, or extended on or after the effective date of the amendatory Act. 1212 1 AN ACT concerning government.
1313 2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
1414 3 represented in the General Assembly:
1515 4 Section 5. The Illinois State Police Act is amended by
1616 5 adding Section 9.5 as follows:
1717 6 (20 ILCS 2610/9.5 new)
1818 7 Sec. 9.5. Credit history of applicants.
1919 8 (a) An applicant's credit history may not be used to
2020 9 prevent the appointment of an Illinois State Police officer.
2121 10 (b) This Section does not apply to employment actions
2222 11 performed under a collective bargaining agreement in effect on
2323 12 the effective date of this amendatory Act of the 103rd General
2424 13 Assembly. A collective bargaining agreement that conflicts
2525 14 with subsection (a) may not be entered into, modified, or
2626 15 extended on or after the effective date of this amendatory Act
2727 16 of the 103rd General Assembly.
2828 17 Section 10. The Illinois Police Training Act is amended by
2929 18 adding Section 10.8 as follows:
