4	4	2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
5	5	3 to learn of the death of Mother Elizabeth McDaniel of
6	6	4 Springfield, who passed away on April 3, 2023 at the age of
7	7	5 102; and
8	8	6 WHEREAS, Mother McDaniel was born in Harvey to Charles and
9	9	7 Nancy Wheeler on October 20, 1920; she graduated from high
10	10	8 school and earned a certification in nursing from Lincoln Land
11	11	9 Community College; and
12	12	10 WHEREAS, Mother McDaniel spent most of her career as a
13	13	11 licensed practical nurse, home nurse, social worker, and
14	14	12 foster parent; and
15	15	13 WHEREAS, Mother McDaniel strongly believed in her family,
16	16	14 her career, her faith, and her community and was passionately
17	17	15 active in each of them; some of her accomplishments and awards
18	18	16 include two NAACP Awards and official proclamations from State
19	19	17 Rep. Sue Scherer for her outstanding work and dedication to
20	20	18 the children of the community; she also received an official
21	21	19 proclamation and dedication by Mayor Langfelder naming,
22	22	20 Sunday, October 18, 2020 "Mother Elizabeth McDaniel Day"; she
23	23	21 was recently inducted into the 2023 Legacy Circle of the
24	24	22 International Department Of The Church Of God In Christ; and

33	33	1 WHEREAS, Mother McDaniel enjoyed knitting, watching golf,
34	34	2 following the Chicago Bulls, and taking care of children; she
35	35	3 had a green thumb for gardening; she loved her family and
36	36	4 friends and instilled good values in her children and
37	37	5 grandchildren that have served them well, but most of all, her
38	38	6 greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and
39	39	7 having an active role in their lives; she was a caring woman
40	40	8 who spent most of her life thinking about others; she was an
41	41	9 active foster grandparent, served the youth of the community,
42	42	10 volunteered with the Red Cross and the disaster relief
43	43	11 program, and was active in numerous bowling leagues; she
44	44	12 always surrounded herself with her friends and family, which
45	45	13 is where she felt most comfortable and loved; everyone who
46	46	14 knew her experienced her big heart and giving nature; and
47	47	15 WHEREAS, Mother McDaniel was member of Greater All Nation
48	48	16 Tabernacle and was a member of the Super Senior Dance Team; and
49	49	17 WHEREAS, Mother McDaniel was preceded in death by her
50	50	18 parents; her husband, Leroy McDaniel; and her siblings,
51	51	19 Howard, Richard, Rena, Dorothy, Mabel, June, Ada, Elene,
52	52	20 William, Harry, John, and Charles Wheeler Jr.; and
53	53	21 WHEREAS, Mother McDaniel is survived by her children,
54	54	22 Charles Howard Caesar Sr. and Jeremiah Shaeffer; her

73	73	9 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
74	74	10 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
75	75	11 Mother Elizabeth McDaniel and extend our sincere condolences
76	76	12 to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be
77	77	13 it further
78	78	14 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
79	79	15 presented to the family of Mother McDaniel as an expression of
80	80	16 our deepest sympathy.
