1  SENATE RESOLUTION
2  WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3  to learn of the death of Eldon R. "Bob" Abbott of rural
4  Smithfield, who passed away on January 26, 2023; and
5  WHEREAS, Bob Abbott was born to Arthur and Nina (Baughman)
6  Abbott in Fulton County on November 28, 1927; he served in the
7  U.S. Armed Forces during World War II and the Korean War; he
8  married Mary Louise Negley in Smithfield on May 31, 1952; and
9  WHEREAS, Bob Abbott was a lifelong farmer, and he sold
10  Pioneer seeds for 23 years; and
11  WHEREAS, Bob Abbott was a member of the Brock United
12  Methodist Church in Smithfield; he was also a member of the
13  Fulton County Farm Bureau, Cuba Lodge AF&AM No. 534, the Odd
14  Fellows Lodge in Fiatt, the Macomb Prairieland Barbershop
15  Chorus, and the Shaw Creek Golf Course in Bushnell; and
16  WHEREAS, Bob Abbott was preceded in death by his parents
17  and one sister; and
18  WHEREAS, At the time of his passing, Bob Abbott was
19  survived by his wife; his sons, Marty (Marilyn) Abbott, Bruce
20  (Candie) Abbott, David (Carol) Abbott, and Charles (Cindi)

1  Abbott; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren;
2  therefore, be it
3  RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
4  ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
5  Eldon R. "Bob" Abbott and extend our sincere condolences to
6  his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
7  further
8  RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9  presented to the family of Bob Abbott as an expression of our
10  deepest sympathy.
