1  AN ACT concerning education.
2  Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3  represented in the General Assembly:
4  Section 5. The College Student Immunization Act is amended
5  by changing Section 3 as follows:
6  (110 ILCS 20/3)    (from Ch. 144, par. 2603)
7  Sec. 3. Exceptions.
8  (a) The provisions of this Act shall not apply to: (1)
9  persons enrolled in a post-secondary educational institution
10  on or before the effective date of this Act; (2) persons
11  enrolled less than half-time during a term or semester; or (3)
12  persons whose instruction solely involves research, field work
13  or study outside of a classroom environment.
14  (b) No proof of immunization shall be required if a
15  physician licensed to practice medicine in all of its branches
16  certifies that any immunization required by the Department is
17  medically contraindicated.
18  (c) No proof of immunization shall be required if the
19  person or his or her parent or guardian presents a signed
20  statement that he or she objects to immunizations on religious
21  grounds.
22  (d) The certificate of medical exemption or statement of
23  religious objection required by this Section shall be

1  presented to the post-secondary educational institution.
2  (e) Beginning with the 2025-2026 academic year, for a
3  tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis vaccine (Tdap) requirement,
4  if a student who enrolls in a post-secondary educational
5  institution cannot provide the dates on which the student
6  received 3 or more doses of a diphtheria, tetanus, and
7  pertussis containing vaccine, then the student must provide at
8  least one date on which the student received a dose of the
9  vaccine not more than 10 years prior to the beginning of the
10  term of current enrollment. Additional doses of either a Tdap
11  vaccine or a tetanus and diphtheria vaccine shall be
12  administered in accordance with the Centers for Disease
13  Control and Prevention catch-up schedule, as needed, to
14  complete a series of at least 3 doses, including any prior
15  doses of any of the following:
16  (1) Tdap vaccine;
17  (2) tetanus and diphtheria vaccine;
18  (3) diphtheria and tetanus vaccine; and
19  (4) diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis vaccine.

21  Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
22  becoming law.
