The Illinois Police Training Act is amended by 5 changing Section 10.6 as follows: 6 (50 ILCS 705/10.6) 7 Sec. 10.6. Mandatory training to be completed every 2 3 8 years. 9 (a) The Board shall adopt rules and minimum standards for 10 mandatory in-service training requirements as set forth in 11 this Section, which must be completed every 2 years. The 12 training shall provide officers with knowledge of policies and 13 laws regulating the use of force; equip officers with tactics 14 and skills, including de-escalation techniques, to prevent or 15 reduce the need to use force or, when force must be used, to 16 use force that is objectively reasonable, necessary, and 17 proportional under the totality of the circumstances; and 18 ensure appropriate supervision and accountability.
