HB1838 Engrossed LRB104 08911 LNS 18966 b
1 AN ACT concerning education.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Sections
5 10-20.88 and 34-18.88 as follows:
6 (105 ILCS 5/10-20.88 new)
7 Sec. 10-20.88. Selective admissions; standardized testing.
8 A school board in a school district with 275,000 students or
9 more shall prohibit any school of the district that has
10 selective admission requirements from requiring a student in a
11 pre-kindergarten program of the district to take a
12 standardized test in order to be admitted to that school.

14 Sec. 34-18.88. Selective admissions; standardized testing.
15 The board shall prohibit any school of the district that has
16 selective admission requirements from requiring a student in a
17 pre-kindergarten program of the district to take a
18 standardized test in order to be admitted to that school.
19 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
20 becoming law.
