1414 1 AN ACT concerning public employee benefits.
1515 2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
1616 3 represented in the General Assembly:
1717 4 Section 5. The Illinois Pension Code is amended by adding
1818 5 Section 7-140.5 as follows:
1919 6 (40 ILCS 5/7-140.5 new)
2020 7 Sec. 7-140.5. Benefit commencement. Notwithstanding any
2121 8 other provision of this Article, benefit payments under this
2222 9 Article, including, but not limited to, disability benefits,
2323 10 death benefits, retirement annuities, and surviving spouse
2424 11 annuities, must commence no later than 30 days after a person
2525 12 has submitted a complete and correct application for a benefit
2626 13 to which that person is entitled.
2727 14 Section 90. The State Mandates Act is amended by adding
