412 2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
513 3 represented in the General Assembly:
614 4 Section 5. The Department of Natural Resources
715 5 (Conservation) Law of the Civil Administrative Code of
816 6 Illinois is amended by adding Section 805-135 as follows:
9-7 (20 ILCS 805/805-135 new)
10-8 Sec. 805-135. Rewilding. The Department of Natural
11-9 Resources has the power to exercise all rights, powers, and
12-10 duties conferred by law and to take measures that are
13-11 necessary for the implementation of rewilding as a
14-12 conservation strategy in this State, including, but not
15-13 limited to, the restoration of land to its natural state, the
16-14 reintroduction of native species, particularly apex predators
17-15 and keystone species, and the restoration of ecological
18-16 processes as defined by State-specific baselines.
