1  AN ACT concerning elections.
2  Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3  represented in the General Assembly:
4  Section 5. The Election Code is amended by changing
5  Section 3-6 as follows:
6  (10 ILCS 5/3-6)
7  Sec. 3-6. Voting and registration age.
8  (a) Notwithstanding any other provision of law, a person
9  who is 17 years old on the date of a caucus, general primary
10  election, or consolidated primary election and who is
11  otherwise qualified to vote is qualified to vote at that
12  caucus, general primary, or consolidated primary, including
13  voting a vote by mail, grace period, or early voting ballot
14  with respect to that general primary or consolidated primary,
15  if that person will be 18 years old on the date of the
16  immediately following general election or consolidated
17  election for which candidates are nominated at that primary.
18  (b) Notwithstanding any other provision of law, a person
19  who is otherwise qualified to vote may preregister to vote on
20  or after that person's 16th birthday, with the registration
21  application held in abeyance by the State Board of Elections
22  until that individual attains the required age to vote, at
23  which time the State Board of Elections shall transmit the
