1 AN ACT concerning education.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Interscholastic Athletic Organization Act
5 is amended by adding Section 1.30 as follows:
6 (105 ILCS 25/1.30 new)
7 Sec. 1.30. Student participation in interscholastic
8 athletics. Beginning with the 2025-2026 school year, an
9 association or other entity that has as one of its purposes
10 promoting, sponsoring, regulating, or in any manner providing
11 for interscholastic athletics or any form of athletic
12 competition among schools and students within this State shall
13 allow a student to participate in interscholastic athletic
14 practices and events as a member of a team for a school in a
15 school district if the student is (1) listed in the statewide
16 student information system established by the State Board of
17 Education, (2) included in the school district's
18 evidence-based funding calculation or submitted enrollment
19 data under Section 18-8.15 of the School Code, (3) attending
20 the school for at least one course, (4) residing within the
21 school district, and (5) using an online learning platform
22 accredited and approved by the State Board of Education.
