1  HOUSE RESOLUTION
2  WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3  Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Gerald
4  Schneider of Sherman, who passed away on January 5, 2025; and
5  WHEREAS, Gerald Schneider was born to Rebecca (Kelly) and
6  Gerald Schneider in Springfield on December 16, 1977; he
7  married Sally "Sarah" Seitz on October 13, 2012; and
8  WHEREAS, Gerald Schneider began his career in law
9  enforcement at the Tri-City Police Department in December
10  1999; he then worked for the Sherman Police Department in
11  January 2008, where he served until December 2014; he
12  proceeded to join the Illinois Secretary of State Police in
13  January 2015, working for the Capitol Division; he was
14  promoted to the rank of sergeant in 2016, a position which
15  allowed him to serve and protect his community as an
16  invaluable member of the command staff; and
17  WHEREAS, Gerald Schneider's exceptional service to the
18  community and the State of Illinois earned him several awards
19  and recognitions, including a Department Unit Citation and
20  Department Commendation for his devoted efforts during his
21  career at the Illinois Secretary of State Police; and

1  WHEREAS, Gerald Schneider, for his dedicated service,
2  earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues and
3  members of the community alike; and
4  WHEREAS, Gerald Schneider loved horseback riding, taking
5  beach trips, and spending quality time with his family; and
6  WHEREAS, Gerald Schneider was preceded in death by his
7  brother, Phil, and his paternal and maternal grandparents; and
8  WHEREAS, Gerald Schneider is survived by his wife; his
9  children, Kaylie and Beau; his sisters, Jessica (Cory) Formea
10  and Dixie (Jake) Hill; his parents; and his nieces and
11  nephews; therefore, be it
12  RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
13  HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
14  we mourn the passing of Gerald Schneider and extend our
15  sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew
16  and loved him; and be it further
17  RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18  presented to the family of Gerald Schneider as an expression
19  of our deepest sympathy.
