1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Maulana
4 Ali Waller Sr. of Peoria, who passed away on February 11, 2025;
5 and
6 WHEREAS, Maulana Waller was born in Peoria to Henry Waller
7 and Hazel Williams on May 4, 1971; he graduated from Manual
8 High School in 1989 and attended Westmar University; he
9 received his certified nursing assistant license from Illinois
10 Central College and became his sister Angie's caregiver; and
11 WHEREAS, Maulana Waller was affectionately known as
12 "Skanie"; he played a vital role in his nieces and nephews
13 lives, always telling them the truth and keeping it real; he
14 came from a big family that he loved and protected; his faith
15 was very important to him; and
16 WHEREAS, Maulana Waller had a love for music and had
17 notebooks full of raps; he enjoyed reading books of all
18 genres, cooking, and telling jokes; and
19 WHEREAS, Maulana Waller was preceded in death by his
20 father, Henry Waller; his brother, Henry Waller Jr.; his
21 sisters, Angela and Twila Waller; and all of his grandparents;

2 WHEREAS, Maulana Waller is survived by Micheal and Hazel
3 Williams; his sons, Sean Perry and Maulana Ali Waller Jr.; his
4 daughter, J'Khyra Waller; his brothers, Otto Waller, Aaron
5 Waller, and Terence Young; his sisters, Erika Waller, Corine
6 (Kerry) Walker, Tamika Williams, Towanna (Kim) Wyatt, and
7 Micah (Larry) Davis; his uncle, Eddie (Kay) Ellis Jr.; his
8 special aunts and uncles, Vinnie Bey, Henrietta Williams,
9 Evelyn (James) Pierce, Georgia Common-Stevenson, Josephine
10 Davis, Ernestine Brock, Bernice Robinson, Betty Williams,
11 Michelle (Barney) Carter, Shirley Williams, Willie (Helen)
12 March, Lepear (Linda) Smith, Vernon Smith, Ronnie (Lisa)
13 Williams, and Haywood (Shirette) Perry; his special cousins,
14 Ronnie Common, Alan Smith, and Marvin Jordan Sr.; his best
15 friends, David Webster, Darrell Jackson, Darnell Clark, and
16 Corey King; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and
17 friends; therefore, be it
18 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
19 HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
20 we mourn the passing of Maulana Ali Waller Sr. and extend our
21 sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew
22 and loved him; and be it further
23 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
