44 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
55 3 Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Phil
66 4 Goldstick, who passed away on February 5, 2025; and
77 5 WHEREAS, Phil Goldstick was a proud member of the
88 6 University of Illinois ROTC during his time there; he served
99 7 in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955; he earned his Juris Doctor
1010 8 from the Depaul College of Law in 1958; and
1111 9 WHEREAS, Phil Goldstick was a key member of the Fighting
1212 10 Illini football team during the 1952 Rose Bowl and remained a
1313 11 devoted supporter of the university throughout his life; he
1414 12 was elected to the board of the University of Illinois
1515 13 Foundation, eventually becoming a life member; and
1616 14 WHEREAS, Phil Goldstick was a member of the Illinois House
1717 15 of Representatives during the 74th General Assembly; and
1818 16 WHEREAS, Phil Goldstick's deep commitment to Illinois
1919 17 extended to his partnership with Chabad Campus for Jewish
2020 18 Living, where he worked tirelessly to ensure that Jewish
2121 19 students felt at home and proud to be a part of the University

3131 1 WHEREAS, Phil Goldstick was dedicated to supporting
3232 2 research regarding Rett Syndrome in addition to his
3333 3 involvement with the university, and he played an active role
3434 4 in supporting the special education program at Illinois;
3535 5 therefore, be it
3636 6 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
3737 7 HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
3838 8 we mourn the passing of Phil Goldstick and extend our sincere
3939 9 condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
4040 10 him; and be it further
4141 11 RESOLVED, That we join Phil Goldstick's family, friends,
4242 12 and the University of Illinois community in celebrating and
4343 13 revering the life and accomplishments of a distinguished
4444 14 individual; and be it further
4545 15 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
4646 16 presented to the family of Phil Goldstick as an expression of
4747 17 our deepest sympathy.
