HR0172LRB104 12448 MST 22772 r HR0172 LRB104 12448 MST 22772 r HR0172 LRB104 12448 MST 22772 r 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 3 Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Phil 4 Goldstick, who passed away on February 5, 2025; and 5 WHEREAS, Phil Goldstick was a proud member of the 6 University of Illinois ROTC during his time there; he served 7 in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955; he earned his Juris Doctor 8 from the Depaul College of Law in 1958; and 9 WHEREAS, Phil Goldstick was a key member of the Fighting 10 Illini football team during the 1952 Rose Bowl and remained a 11 devoted supporter of the university throughout his life; he 12 was elected to the board of the University of Illinois 13 Foundation, eventually becoming a life member; and 14 WHEREAS, Phil Goldstick was a member of the Illinois House 15 of Representatives during the 74th General Assembly; and 16 WHEREAS, Phil Goldstick's deep commitment to Illinois 17 extended to his partnership with Chabad Campus for Jewish 18 Living, where he worked tirelessly to ensure that Jewish 19 students felt at home and proud to be a part of the University 20 of Illinois community; and HR0172 LRB104 12448 MST 22772 r HR0172- 2 -LRB104 12448 MST 22772 r HR0172 - 2 - LRB104 12448 MST 22772 r HR0172 - 2 - LRB104 12448 MST 22772 r 1 WHEREAS, Phil Goldstick was dedicated to supporting 2 research regarding Rett Syndrome in addition to his 3 involvement with the university, and he played an active role 4 in supporting the special education program at Illinois; 5 therefore, be it 6 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 7 HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 8 we mourn the passing of Phil Goldstick and extend our sincere 9 condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved 10 him; and be it further 11 RESOLVED, That we join Phil Goldstick's family, friends, 12 and the University of Illinois community in celebrating and 13 revering the life and accomplishments of a distinguished 14 individual; and be it further 15 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 16 presented to the family of Phil Goldstick as an expression of 17 our deepest sympathy.
