1111 1 AN ACT concerning local government.
1212 2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
1313 3 represented in the General Assembly:
1414 4 Section 5. The Regional Transportation Authority Act is
1515 5 amended by changing Section 3.11 as follows:
1616 6 (70 ILCS 3615/3.11)
1717 7 Sec. 3.11. Free and reduced fare services.
1818 8 (a) The Authority shall provide the Department of Public
1919 9 Health with a monthly list of all riders that receive free or
2020 10 reduced fares. The list shall include an individual's name,
2121 11 address, and date of birth. The Department of Public Health
2222 12 shall, within 2 weeks after receipt of the list, report back to
2323 13 the Authority any discrepancies that indicate that a rider
2424 14 receiving free or reduced fare services is deceased. The
2525 15 Authority upon receipt of the report from the Department of
2626 16 Public Health shall take appropriate steps to remove any
2727 17 deceased individual's name from the list of individuals
2828 18 eligible under the free or reduced fare programs.
2929 19 (b) By December 31, 2025, the Authority and Service Boards
3030 20 shall create a program to provide free rides to persons
3131 21 earning under 138% of the poverty guidelines updated
3232 22 periodically in the Federal Register by the U.S. Department of
3333 23 Health and Human Services under the authority of 42 U.S.C.
