Saletnik of Des Plaines, who 4 passed away on January 8, 2025; and 5 WHEREAS, Paul Saletnik was born in Chicago on August 27, 6 1950; he attended Gordon Tech High School, where he discovered 7 a lifelong love for music and drumming; he earned a bachelor's 8 degree in architecture at the University of Illinois Chicago; 9 and 10 WHEREAS, Paul Saletnik worked as an architect with the 11 Chicago & North Western Railroad for 22 years and then as a 12 kitchen designer for Home Depot for 22 years; and 13 WHEREAS, Paul Saletnik, a proud Des Plaines resident of 52 14 years, served on the city's zoning board of appeals for 16 15 years and then, starting in 2016, on the newly combined 16 planning and zoning board; and 17 WHEREAS, Paul Saletnik also served on the board of the Des 18 Plaines Theater Preservation Society, which worked to save the 19 former movie theater at 1476 Miner St. from destruction and 20 was bought by the city in 2016, renovated, and reopened as a 21 venue for live entertainment in 2021; he will especially be SR0041 LRB104 08498 MST 18550 r SR0041- 2 -LRB104 08498 MST 18550 r SR0041 - 2 - LRB104 08498 MST 18550 r SR0041 - 2 - LRB104 08498 MST 18550 r 1 remembered for his work ethic, eagerness to help others, and 2 ability to be fully present in the moment; and 3 WHEREAS, Paul Saletnik was preceded in death by his 4 parents, Henry and Jean (Andzjewski) Saletnik, and his first 5 wife, Barbara Ann Saletnik; and 6 WHEREAS, Paul Saletnik is survived by his wife, Krystyna 7 Saletnik-Stachurska; three children; two grandchildren; two 8 siblings; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family 9 members and friends; therefore, be it 10 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL 11 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 12 Paul H.
