| 4 | 4 | | 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to |

| 5 | 5 | | 3 recognize Officer Anthony J. Rouba for his service in the U.S. |

| 6 | 6 | | 4 Marine Corps and as a Chicago police officer; and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | 5 WHEREAS, Officer Rouba was born in Chicago on January 27, |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | 6 1967; after growing up in the city, he graduated from high |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | 7 school, married his wife, and welcomed his child in 1986; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | 8 WHEREAS, Officer Rouba joined the U.S. Marine Corps, |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | 9 trained in San Diego, and was stationed at Camp Pendleton, |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | 10 California; he served with the 1st Marine Division, 3rd |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | 11 Amphibious Assault Battalion, Charlie Company; he was deployed |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | 12 overseas on naval vessels, including during Desert |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | 13 Shield/Desert Storm in August 1990, extending his service by |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | 14 one month; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | 15 WHEREAS, Throughout Officer Rouba's career with the Marine |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | 16 Corps, he received multiple awards and was meritoriously |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | 17 promoted twice; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | 18 WHEREAS, After being discharged, Officer Rouba began |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | 19 training at the Chicago Police Academy in September 2022, |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | 20 where he became a squad leader and then a Chicago police |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | 21 officer; he joined the Gang Enforcement Unit and sustained |

| 36 | 36 | | 5 breach a police perimeter; after recovering, he returned to |

| 37 | 37 | | 6 service at the Art Institute of Chicago for a short time as |

| 38 | 38 | | 7 protestors were attempting to break through the police line; |
|---|

|---|
| 40 | 40 | | 9 WHEREAS, Officer Rouba is currently assigned to the 12th |
|---|
| 41 | 41 | | 10 District Patrol Division of the Chicago Police Department with |
|---|
| 42 | 42 | | 11 star number 15409; therefore, be it |

| 43 | 43 | | 12 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL |
