1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to
3 recognize Officer Anthony J. Rouba for his service in the U.S.
4 Marine Corps and as a Chicago police officer; and
5 WHEREAS, Officer Rouba was born in Chicago on January 27,
6 1967; after growing up in the city, he graduated from high
7 school, married his wife, and welcomed his child in 1986; and
8 WHEREAS, Officer Rouba joined the U.S. Marine Corps,
9 trained in San Diego, and was stationed at Camp Pendleton,
10 California; he served with the 1st Marine Division, 3rd
11 Amphibious Assault Battalion, Charlie Company; he was deployed
12 overseas on naval vessels, including during Desert
13 Shield/Desert Storm in August 1990, extending his service by
14 one month; and
15 WHEREAS, Throughout Officer Rouba's career with the Marine
16 Corps, he received multiple awards and was meritoriously
17 promoted twice; and
18 WHEREAS, After being discharged, Officer Rouba began
19 training at the Chicago Police Academy in September 2022,
20 where he became a squad leader and then a Chicago police
21 officer; he joined the Gang Enforcement Unit and sustained

1 several injuries while apprehending dangerous offenders; and
2 WHEREAS, Officer Rouba was stationed at Cermak and
3 Michigan in Chicago during the 2012 NATO Summit when he was
4 injured in the line of duty as assailants were attempting to
5 breach a police perimeter; after recovering, he returned to
6 service at the Art Institute of Chicago for a short time as
7 protestors were attempting to break through the police line;
8 and
9 WHEREAS, Officer Rouba is currently assigned to the 12th
10 District Patrol Division of the Chicago Police Department with
11 star number 15409; therefore, be it
12 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
13 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we recognize the
14 exemplary service of Officer Anthony J. Rouba, especially for
15 his experience in the line of duty during the 2012 NATO Summit;
16 and be it further
